Health & Safety Training Courses with Forrest Safety Solutions

At Forrest Safety Solutions, we provide a full range of health and safety courses, both publicly and in-house. Courses can be be delivered at a number of locations throughout Munster and a full calendar schedule will be available in due course. In-house training can be arranged separately.

Our training approach is different and based on the needs of organisations and their employees. We aim to focus our training courses around real life practical examples and specific challenges like legislation, blocks to learner’s understanding, identifying real time risk factors from your workplace and much more. Our courses also adopt a less formal style of training so we can promote maximum interaction and gain learners interest.

We don’t let safety become static, we aim to keep our courses interactive, impactful and engaging.

Manual Handling Training Course

Who should attend?

All staff engaging in manual handling activities during their working day.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand Manual Handling Legislation.
  • Perform specific manual handling tasks to a QQI approved standard.
  • Execute essential pre-task risk assessment prior to completing any manual handling activities.
  • Identify ergonomic factors associated with their day to day work activities.
  • Distinguish between good and bad manual handling practices and demonstrate the safe principles of manual handling.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “Manual Handling”

People/Patient Handling Training Course

Who should attend?

All staff engaging in manual and people/patient handling activities during their working day, specifically those employed in healthcare.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand Manual Handling Legislation.
  • Understand how to protect yourself, your colleagues and your clients.
  • Identify the risk factors associated with people moving and handling and execute essential pre-task risk assessment prior to completing any people handling activities.
  • Distinguish between good and bad people/patient handling practices and demonstrate the safe principals of people/patient handling.

Prerequisites:

  • Valid Manual Handling Certificate.
  • A full day of combined Manual and People handling is available if you or your employee does not hold a valid manual handling certificate.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “People/Patient Handling”

Working at Height Training Course

Who should attend?

The course is designed for personnel who are required to plan, evaluate and carry out work at height.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the legislative requirements pertaining to working at height including the SHWWA 2005 and the SHWW (General Application) Regulations 2007 Part 4.
  • Understand the general safety principles for working at height.
  • Identify the different types of fall protection systems and equipment available.
  • State the maintenance and inspection requirements of personnel fall protection equipment.
  • Explain working at height hazard management.
  • Demonstrate the selection and fitting of a harness.
  • Describe safe use of ladders.
  • Use basic fall arrest and restraint system.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “Working at Height”.

Abrasive Wheel Training Course

Who should attend?

This course is designed for individuals who have responsibility for or are required to change abrasive wheels e.g. on angle grinders, consaws, chop saws etc.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the hazards and risks when using abrasive wheels.
  • Describe how to inspect and recognise damaged abrasive wheels.
  • Define the appropriate storage of abrasive wheels.
  • State how to select the appropriate abrasive wheel.
  • Demonstrate the correct mounting, setting of abrasive wheels.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in Abrasive Wheel.

Fire Safety Training Course

Who should attend?

This course is designed for all employees regardless of their industry.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the chemistry of fire
  • Identify potential fire hazards in their workplace
  • Follow the evacuation procedures set out by their employer
  • Select and use appropriate firefighting equipment for an underdeveloped fire

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “Fire Safety”.  Refresher training is recommended at intervals of not greater than 3 years.

Fire Marshall Training Course

Who should attend?

Any employee who has been designated in their employers Safety Statement emergency plans to act as a Fire Marshals. 

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the chemistry of fire
  • Carry out routine inspections to identify potential fire hazards in their workplace
  • List their duties as fire wardens
  • Manage and assist in the evacuation procedures and drills set out by their employer
  • Select and use the appropriate firefighting equipment for an underdeveloped fire

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “Fire Marshall Training”.

Legionella Awareness Training

Who should attend?

Anyone who looks after a premise and needs to keep themselves or their tenants from harm. This includes landlords, letting agents, employers and employees who are involved in the maintenance and care of domestic hot and cold-water systems.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the source of the bacteria and how it affects your health.
  • Understand the legislation pertaining the control of legionella growth in domestic hot and cold-water systems.
  • Identify where Legionella bacteria can be found.
  • Demonstrate how to carry out field level risk assessments to monitor and control the potential hazards.
  • Describe the legal responsibilities of preventing the bacterial growth for the duty holder and the responsible person.
  • List the process of implementing and documenting the control measures to stop it from returning.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “Legionella Awareness”.

COSHH Chemical Handling Training

Who should attend?

Any worker who comes into contact with chemicals in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the legislation relating to chemical handling under the SHWW 2005 Act.
  • State the routes of entry of chemicals into the body and describe the health effects.
  • Classify warning symbols and recognise product warning labels and signs.
  • Interpret MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).
  • Recognise and use different types of available PPE (Personal Protective Equipment.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Forrest Safety Solutions certificate in “COSHH Chemical Handling”.
